I wasn't looking for another business.
You see, I had been involved in a Direct Sales company for 20 years. I had built a successful team of over 700 people. I was a top leader in the company. I had been recognized nationally for sales, recruiting, and leadership development.
When you are successful in the Direct Sales/Network Marketing world you have a lot of people share opportunities with you. They just, "know you would be great at this too." My family and friends had heard me say many times, "I have no interest in doing another Direct Sales/Network Marketing business, ever."
Well, I have learned never to say never. Like I said, I wasn't looking for another business. I had decided it was time to retire from the direct sales industry but that was until I found doTERRA. I did not know anything about essential oils and had never used them before except a few times I had had a massage and the therapist would use them. But I became intrigued with the whole idea and as I learned about the company, as I talked with some of their top distributors, as I visited their corporate offices and most importantly as I used the products, it just felt good. It felt like home.
The thing that had attracted me to my first Direct Sales business was the product. I fell in love with the product. I got excited about the product and wanted to share it with my friends. It wasn't the opportunity, (I didnt' understand that part of the business at all) it was the product.
The same thing happened with doTERRA. I fell in love with the product. I wanted to share it with my friends.
I first began using doTERRA essential oils to try and help my daughter Cali. She had gone through a year of health issues, lots of expensive medical tests and lots of experimenting with various medication. Nothing helped. We decided to visit a naturopath who was able to help her a lot and get things under control but we had a lot of expensive homeopathic supplements to buy each month.
We started using DigestZen, a essential oil blend from doTERRA and found that it worked and it was only forty dollars!
I signed up, got my kit and starting using the oils. As I began to see even more great results with the oils and health issues my family and friends were having I got more and more excited. We were using them for allergies, headaches, athletes foot, stress reduction, muscle pains, increased energy, anxiety, colds and flu and many other things. I began learning about essential oils and the amazing properties and abilities they have and I very quickly became convinced that every family needs essential oils. Whether they know it yet or not!
I began sharing the oils with my friends and they embraced the concept too. My kids and husband initially made a little fun of mom and her "snake oil." But soon, as they began to use and experience the oils, as they saw that they worked I began getting phone calls. "Mom, do you have an oil for this?" My college, dorm living daughter began sharing the oils with dorm mates and they would come to her room to see what she had for a headaches or other ailments. I loved it and I love doTERRA!
One of the best things about doTERRA is that anyone can build a successful business with doTERRA - whether you have experience in the industry or not. All you need to do is use the product and then share the product. It really is that easy.
